Desander Hydrocyclones are used to provide efficient and reliable separation of sand and solids from Produced Water, to protect downstream oil-water separation equipment, or Wellstreams as wellhead desander.
The particle size that can be separated depends on feed characteristics, such as the solids and liquid densities, the solids concentration and liquid viscosity together with pressure drop and flow rate through a cyclone. The practical limit for sand separation from water by a hydrocyclone is 10 μm, however down to 5 micron is possible for our standard sizes DS range of desanders (DS10,DS20,DS30). Hydrocyclone size is dependent on the process fluid, temperature, pressure and concentration and type of solids present in the fluid. Hydrocyclones are supplied either as single-liner units for coarse solids separation, or as multiple-liner configurations inside vessels for fine solid particles removal.
